Business Model and Value Creation Model

Business Model

We operate on the basis of the following operating segments:

Retail and Business Banking

Retail and Business Banking with the largest share in the Group’s net banking income (49% in 2019) includes comprehensive services for individual customers, including private banking customers (Wealth Management), and business customers (microenterprises). MORE

Retail Customers:
  • Mass Customers;
  • Premium Banking Customers, i.e. customers who deposit assets worth at least PLN 100 thousand with or via the Bank or who have inflows of at least PLN 7.5 thousand per month; since 2020, a change in segmentation criteria for inflows, increase to PLN 10 thousand, the level of assets remains unchanged;
  • Private Banking Customers (Wealth Management), i.e. customers who deposit assets worth at least PLN 1 million via the Bank. The “Family Fortunes” sub-segment was separated under Private Banking in June 2019 – customers who deposit assets worth at least PLN 10 million via the Bank.
Business Customers (Microenterprises):
  • non-Agro, who are not full financial reporters as per the principles set out in the Accounting Act,
    meeting the criterion of net revenue for the previous financial year below EUR 2 million;
  • non-Agro, who are full financial reporters with net revenue from sales for the previous financial year lower than PLN 4 million and credit exposure not exceeding PLN 1.2 million;
  • Agro, who are not full financial reporters, meeting the criterion of net income for the previous financial year below EUR 2 million, who engage in activities classified under selected PKD (Polish Classification of Activities) codes 2007;
  • Professionals: entrepreneurs who are not full financial reporters as per the principles set out in the Accounting Act, and who pursue professions defined in a separate document;
  • Individual farmers with the Bank’s credit exposure to the customer of less than PLN 3 million;
  • Individual farmers with the Bank’s credit exposure to the customer remaining within the range of PLN 3 million to PLN 4 million, if the collateral for agricultural land covers at least 50% of the credit exposure;
  • Non-profit organisations (e.g. foundations, associations, trade unions, etc.);
  • Co-operatives, housing associations, property managers.

Corporate Banking

Corporate Banking, the share of which in the Group’s net banking income amounted to 24% in 2019. It offers a wide range of financial services to large and medium-sized enterprises and local government units. The segment’s customers include also members of international capital groups. MORE

  • Group 1: Polish corporations with annual sales revenues between PLN 40 and 600 million (or between PLN 60 and 600 million in the case of business entities conducting agricultural manufacturing activity) or with credit exposure higher than or equal to PLN 12 million (or PLN 25 million for business entities conducting agricultural activity);
  • Group 2: international customers (members of international capital groups);
  • Group 3: large Polish corporations (with annual turnover above PLN 600 million, quoted on the stock exchange and with potential for investment banking services);
  • Group 4: public sector entities and financial institutions.

Sub-segments of customers from the Agro and non-Agro areas operate within the above groups.

SME Banking

SME Banking with the share in the Group’s net banking income of 11% in 2019 includes services for agro and non-agro customers. MORE

  • Agro customers, who are full financial reporters with net sales revenues for the previous financial year from PLN 4 to 40 million and the Bank’s credit exposure to the customer not higher than PLN 12 million. This segment also includes groups of agricultural producers and organisational units of the State Forests, regardless of the turnover volume and credit exposure;
  • Non-Agro customers – a sub-segment which includes entities who are full financial reporters with net sales revenues for the previous financial year from PLN 4 to 40 million and the Bank’s credit exposure to the customer not higher than PLN 12 million, as well as public finance entities with a budget of up to PLN 100 million;
  • Farmers (i.e. business entities conducting agricultural manufacturing activities), who are full financial reporters with net income for the previous financial year falling within the range from PLN 0 to 60 million and credit exposure not exceeding PLN 25 million, as well as individual farmers if their credit exposure is within the range from PLN 4 to 25 million and between PLN 3 and 4 million if the collateral for agricultural land covers less than 50% of the credit exposure.

Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB)

Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) with the share in the Group’s net banking income of 6% in 2019 supports the sales of the Group’s products addressed to the largest Polish enterprises and includes the provision of services to strategic customers. MORE

The foundations of BNP Paribas Bank Polska Group activity

We are a bank with over 100 years of tradition/history on the Polish market. Being a member of the BNP Paribas global financial enables us to use the best international practices to meet the needs of the local market and expectations of the Bank’s customers.

The Group offers its customers a full range of financial products and services provided by the Bank and the Group companies (including investment funds, leasing). We also provide customers with direct access to the offer of BNP Paribas Group entities operating in Poland (e.g. factoring, leasing, insurance).

As the Bank close to the customer, we provide services through a network of bank branches. We are constantly developing and transforming our branches, paying particular attention to accessibility and openness to the needs of various groups of customers, including the elderly and people with disabilities.

Our credit products are also available through points in affiliated stores as well as through selected car dealer networks.

Considering technological challenges, we are constantly developing our products and digital service channels: mobile and online banking and new forms of communication using technology.

We constantly analyse and take into account regulatory and economic aspects, as well as the dynamic development of digitalisation and social and climate changes, which affect the national and global economies. We respond to civilisation challenges by developing and adapting our offer to the changing environment and needs of our clients.

Culture of compliance and careful risk management is the pillar of our business activity in order to provide top quality services to our customers is a. The Group has implemented and applies appropriate policies and procedures to manage and monitor the risks to which the Group is or might be exposed.

One element of the risk management system is the integration of ESG criteria into the overall risk assessment.

How do we create value?

Financial capital

The financial capital of the Bank and the Bank’s Capital Group includes the funds obtained from our customers, shareholders and profits generated by the Bank and its subsidiaries. As a company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, we strive to achieve steady capital growth for our shareholders.

Working capital

The Bank’s working capital is based on the well-developed infrastructure resources. We constantly modernise the network of branches providing services to individual and business customers, we develop our services performed via the Contact Centre and we work on the development of digital channels. We care about the work environment of our employees. We pay particular attention to increasing accessibility to products and services for customers representing groups at risk of social exclusion. Working capital creates value for the stakeholders thanks to the operations of the entire Capital Group of the Bank which comprises its parent company – BNP Paribas Bank Polska S.A. and 7 subsidiaries.
